The NATE-Certification Advantage

March 20, 2018

Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning proudly sends NATE-Certified technicians into customers’ homes throughout North America every day. While this notation of being Nate-Certified decidedly sounds reassuring, what does it really mean?

NATE, an abbreviation for North American Technician Excellence, is the nation’s largest non-profit certification organization for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration technicians. NATE is the certification organization that was established by and has been supported by the entire HVACR industry for close to 20 years. Although, not all technicians in the field are required to be NATE-Certified. The certification is discretionary and technicians can service heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration units without the accreditation.

It’s a priority for Service Experts that our team is NATE-Certified to make sure we are sending the most experienced technicians into our customers’ homes. To make sure technicians meet these benchmarks, the NATE-Certification exams verify real-world working knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems for technicians. The assessments are knowledge-based exams that measure the technician’s understanding of these rules.

Considering Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning focuses largely on the HVAC side of NATE-Certification, our technicians earn their designations in these areas. However, NATE assessment candidates may earn certification in any of these areas:

  • Air Conditioning
  • Air Distribution
  • Gas Heating
  • Oil Heating
  • Heat Pumps
  • Hydronic Gas (service only)
  • Hydronics Oil (service only)
  • Light Commercial Refrigeration (service only)
  • Commercial Refrigeration (service only)
