When you want heating, air conditioning or plumbing services from Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing, you will pay a trip charge and a diagnostic fee independently. A number of companies you’ve called in the past may have combined the trip charge and diagnostic fee, but we believe we can offer you better value by separating them.
A trip charge includes the cost for a certified plumber or HVAC technician to visit your home. Occasionally called a service call fee, this cost is the initial rate for sending our technicians, equipment and expertise to your front door. If you’d like to eliminate trip charges in the future, you can explore registering for one of our membership programs.
The diagnostic fee is made up of the services needed to locate the root cause of a problem. For plumbing, this can consist of scoping. In HVAC repairs, it may involve taking a look at the inside of your system. If you decide to use Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing for the repairs, the diagnostic fee will be rolled into the repair costs. That said, you will be charged for the diagnostic services alone if you choose not to.
Generally speaking, a trip fee gets the plumber or HVAC technician to your property, while the diagnostic fee covers all the work related to assessing the problem and figuring out a plan for repairs. If you’re paying for repairs, you won’t notice the diagnostic fee as it’s rolled into the cost of the repairs.
Some other plumbers and HVAC companies will charge a single fee for both the trip and the diagnostics. Rather than charging you for two services together, we opt for two separate fees. This enables us to price our services in the fairest available manner.
