Here’s What to Do When Your Furnace Won’t Ignite
We are making our way through the last several weeks of winter but we still need our furnaces, especially during cold nights. There’s not a lot that is worse than laying down at night just to realize your furnace won’t turn on. If your furnace won’t turn on, here are some things you can check yourself before calling Stevenson Service Experts.
Check Air Filters
You should swap out standard air filters every 30 days. If you fail to do so, they can become clogged, restricting air flow and causing your furnace to malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
Try turning the temperature up a few degrees to get the furnace to kick on. If the current room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t kick on. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem obvious, but verify the power switch next to the furnace is “On.” Even gas heating equipment uses electricity so verify the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch was not accidently switched to the “Off” position.
If you check all these things and your heating system will still not start up, give Stevenson Service Experts a call at 614-334-3192 and we’ll come out and get you heating again as soon as possible.
